Joshua Shoemaker contributes his legal expertise as an associate within the Advocacy Department of Gowling WLG's Toronto office. His academic journey led him to the University of Ottawa, where he pursued a JD in common law, laying the groundwork for his legal career. This was after obtaining a master's degree in international public policy from Wilfrid Laurier University, with a focus on global governance and environmental policy, reflecting his interest in broad societal issues.

Before his legal pursuits, Joshua dedicated his efforts to policy and government relations, serving as an advisor for a First Nations advocacy organization. His work extended to consulting roles, where he delved into policy issues related to Indigenous rights and interests, showcasing his commitment to these vital areas.

Joshua was called to the Ontario Bar in 2018, marking a significant milestone in his legal journey. His educational background is further complemented by a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Political Science & Business from the University of Waterloo, underlining his multidisciplinary approach to law and policy.
